I’m in pre-marathon panic mode.

My marathon is still months away. I have many weeks of training left and great guidance. There’s no reason to believe that I may not reach my goal. However, I have decided that this is an appropriate time to panic. I’m currently somewhere in between “What the hell was I thinking???” and “Omg omg omg omg omg…”

I attribute this to two factors.

a) I’ve been getting into higher levels of technical training and mass building and sport nutrition (I’ll be blogging about this stuff next week). I love it, but it’s a lot to take in at once. Too much to think about. I need one good long run just for the sake of running to clear my head.

b) I’m supposed to run 20k this weekend. I haven’t covered that distance since my last half marathon in September. Frankly my calves are terrified.

My immediate solution: find some funny running pictures to make myself feel better. Here’s what I came up with.

I plan to survive my long run this weekend and start breaking down everything I’ve learned into manageable chunks. Then I can start tweaking my stride. Perfecting my nutrition. Activating all the right muscles in all the right places. I still have a long journey ahead of me. And probably a good deal more panic attacks.

Damn, I love running!
