The inevitable has happened. I’m swamped with too many books to read and reviews to write. I don’t have the time or space for all of them. So I’m calling out for help in exchange for free books.
Here’s the deal:
I have a long list of books, mostly about either running, barefoot running, or holistic nutrition. I will send you the book of your choice for free. In exchange, you read it and write me a book review.
It does NOT matter if you’re not a writer or if you’ve never written a review in your life. Simply tell me what you thought about the book. I want to know what it was about, if you liked it, and why/why not.
I don’t want anyone to be nervous about the quality of their writing. I work as an editor so I’m happy to do my thing to make it great.
The books are brand new, and I will mail them to you for free. You may keep any of the books you review, and you may review more than one.
I want to have all my books assigned to reviewers by the end of the month, so if you’re interested in becoming a reviewer, please leave a comment here with your email address, or email me at vanessaruns@gmail.com.
If I don’t know you, tell me a bit about yourself. I will send you a book list with more details about the titles. They are available on a first come, first served basis.
Here are some examples of the books I’m offering up:
And many more…
I look forward to hearing from you!

I’d love to review one of those books. I still have Jason’s book waiting to be read, but I’d really be interested in reviewing either “The End of Food” or “The Hormone Diet.” Let me know!
Vanessa
I would love to review a book for you. I have a strong interest in learning more about barefoot/minimalist running. So dibs on “The Barefoot Running Book”
Buffer
Sent you an e-mail expressing interest in “The End of Food” and “Barefoot running for Idiots,” but then noticed the statement, “and many more.” So I guess I should actually ask for a complete list . . .
Would love to review just about any book on running or food not running barefoot but minimal.
Hi Vanessa, I’d be interested! Please send me a list.
Melanie
I’d try one of the BF books, don’t care which.
If you need anyone else let me know. I probably am not the best to review a BF book but any others are good. I’ll send you an email.
I would love to review one on running as well
I would love to read the Idiots guide! Just let me know or hit me up on my blog.
If you have any books left, I’d be interested in one of the running/BF ones. A bit about me: I’ve been running pretty consistently for 4 years, I’ve done two half marathons, but then started my Master’s and no longer had the time for dedicated training. I’ve recently been dipping my toes into the BF scene, but with less than 10km actually run barefoot, I still have huge amounts to learn.
Thanks for the invitation, Vanessa. I’m interested in reading / reviewing, too. I’m a writer, editor, attorney, barefoot runner, um, ukulele player. . . you can see my work and where I’m coming from at my blog: trainyourfeet.com. I’m also a willPower Method instructor and presenter. I’d like to learn more about nutrition — and always running, and training feet.
From the list seen here, I would like to read the `Complete idiot’s guide to BF running` and tell what I think. However, it would be nice to receive a complete list as well – maybe some other interesting BF books are there..
Hi Vanessa,
If I was in the US, would definitely add my name to your list of people interested in taking you up on the office. Unfortunately I’m in the UK…
I love reading about running & love blogging about running – think writing reviews of running books would be an awesome match for me!
Thanks, Naomi
I would love to review one of your books. I have just finished Born to run and wow the things I learned. I am interested right now in a book that I can incorporate into my Tri training when it comes to food. I need to be full yet stay healthy and keep enough to keep my muscles in check while my endurance training is so high.
Hi Vanessa
I’d love to review the fertility diet book. We have just started ‘trying’ so its something i’m interested in personally.
I would love to review any of the nutrition/food books, but I would also be interested in seeing the full list. My email address is biblioholicbeth(at)gmail(dot)com.
Hi Vanessa;
If you have any books about paleo or ultras that you would like reviewed, I would love to do one.Or a book no one else wants to do, I have a lot of time by the pool. Not doing barefoot for a while, I’m having an achillies issue. Getting better, though.Let me know!

Hello, my name is Jon. I’m a vegan and recent convert to barefoot running and would LOVE to read and write a review. It doesn’t really matter which topic, any book you still have available would be great! Do you have a list of all the books still available? If so, my email is charliejsanders(at)gmail(dot)com.
Hi Vanessa, My name is Zoi and I live in Greece. I only read English books mostly science fiction but I am willing to broaden my knowledge and help you with your reviews. Should you think you can afford to send me books over to Greece, I would be glad to assist you.
Best Regards
Zoi Stamkou
My e-mail is zoi.stamkou(at))gmail(dot)com
If you still have nutrition books for reviewing let me know. I could also review a running book-but have never ran barefoot so that may be a limitation. I’m an MBA student so my writing skills have been well exercised. Will be able to do this before the semester begins in August. My email: anna.hurley@baruchmail.cuny.edu
I would love to review a barefoot running book for you, if you have one available. It’s a subject I’ve been meaning to look into lately. If you’re interested, my email is greatbigdragon(at)gmail(dot)com
Vanessa,
Born South African, so barefoot Zola Budd always intrigued me. Grew up in Mississauga where I loved sailing and racing for Port Credit SS track and X-country skiing team. Then UofT Soccer team. Moved to Houston and ran first marathon in 1998. Crewed in Badwater for Jan Reyerse 2002 and Anita Fromm 2003. Started barefoot running in San Francisco 2004. Just returned from NYC and would love to run the NYC Barefoot marathon in Sept. I haven’t yet read any running books but would love to review a barefoot running book for you, if you have one available. If you have enough reviewers then good work, and I could crew for you in Badwater. Mailing address in Houston, TX. email: naeem.ravat@gmail.com
Hey Vanessa. Are you still looking for some reviewers? I wouldn’t mind trying it out. – Sarah
Hi Vanessa,
Are you still looking for book reviewers? Since I seem to be no less than at least ‘slightly’ opinionated it would be a nice outlet to actually do something with my opinions.
I used to be a marathon runner, did 4 marathons in 7 months, then was diagnosed with cancer and went through chemo, and walked out another marathon 3 months later, then did 3 more years of chemo maintenance. That was years ago and have recently picked up running again. I used a recent half-marathon for the bling to motivate me into more rigorous training.
Let me know if you are still looking for reviewers, and let me know a list of books you have. We’ll see what we can do for eather other. I haven’t gotten into barefoot running, I am hesitant because of my pronation, so any books aside from barefoot running would be great for me, including nutrition & fitness.
Have a good day,
Guy
I lyk these books
